Little Common Library, situated within the Little Common Community Centre in Shepherd's Close, is 'a great place for a good read'. It holds a wide and regularly refreshed selection of fiction written by well-known and popular authors.

We add in excess of 600 new titles each year and the Library holds over 3500 books. Most categories of general fiction are covered; non-fiction includes biographies, travel, military and history books.

The non-fiction collections are less extensive than we would wish due to lack of shelf space but are well worth a browse.

There are several shelves of 'large print' books, mainly of fiction.

There are no charges - it is free to join and you can borrow as many books as you like completely free. There are also no charges for overdue books. It is a friendly Library, with the Volunteers always ready to help with book choice and a chat.

See the recommendations for good reads from some of our members.

We are a charity and completely dependent upon the support of the Little Common community. Our supply of books is reliant on the generosity of local people who donate unwanted books.

The Library was founded in 2002 by Percy and Yvonne Pearson when the East Sussex Library Department wanted to close their library branch there and the Little Common Community took it over. It is run by about 34 Volunteers and is supported by Library Friends who make an annual donation.
